Amazon is shutting down its ad-supported streaming app, Freevee, and moving its content to the Prime Video platform. The service will be available until August 2025, after which it will become “Freevee on Prime Video.” The company aims to simplify the viewing experience for customers by consolidating its services.
Currently, Freevee offers a range of movies, TV shows, live entertainment channels, and original content like “Jury Duty” and “Bosch: Legacy.” All content will be accessible on Prime Video without the need for an additional subscription. Non-Prime members can still watch select Originals from Amazon MGM Studios, licensed movies, and FAST channels.
Amazon had previously announced its plans to phase out Freevee branding and increase Prime Video’s offerings, including adding a fee for ad-free viewing. The move is part of Amazon’s consolidation strategy and will see its content migrate to the Prime Video platform by 2025.
