Amazon’s Secret Vega OS Nears Launch

Amazon is inching closer to launching its secret new TV operating system, Vega OS. The Linux-based platform has been quietly developed and tested, with three devices already running on the system: Echo Show 5, Echo Hub smart displays, and Echo Spot smart clocks/speakers.

Despite initial delays, Amazon plans to release a first non-Android streaming device powered by Vega OS later this year. Sources close to the company have confirmed that major publishers are being courted to bring their apps to the platform.

Vega’s adoption has been slower for smart TVs and streaming players compared to its Android-based Fire OS counterparts. However, new leaks suggest that Amazon is moving forward with Vega, contrary to speculation that it may be abandoning the platform.

The news comes as Meta prepares to jumpstart its metaverse development with AI.
