AMD Announces RX 9070 Event on February 28, Shoots Down 32GB Rumors

AMD has announced a public event on February 28 to showcase its upcoming RX 9070 series GPUs. The company has also debunked rumors of a 32GB variant of the RX 9070 XT GPU, stating that such a model is unlikely for mid-range consumer GPU markets.

According to David McAfee, AMD’s GM of Ryzen CPU and Radeon Graphics, the 32GB version is not coming in the near future. Instead, Team Red may launch a professional-grade graphics card with this amount of VRAM, possibly targeting AI hardware demand.

The RX 9070 series event was previously hinted at but was delayed due to time constraints during CES 2025 presentations. The cards will now be unveiled on February 28, with early March sales expected. This marks an exciting development in the mid-range GPU market, as AMD and its competitors, Nvidia, prepare for a price-performance battle.

The launch of these RDNA 4 graphics cards is seen as a significant event for enthusiasts, given the competitive landscape and the growing demand for AI hardware. With the RTX 5070 Ti set to compete with the RX 9070 XT, this is a great time for consumers to expect balance between price and performance from top manufacturers.
