AMD’s Radeon 9070 and 9070 XT graphics cards were originally priced at $550 and $600, respectively. However, some retailers such as Newegg, Overclockers UK, and Micro Center have raised their prices by $50-$130. This comes after AMD confirmed that its partners can increase prices beyond the original MSRP.
The price hikes are unexpected, especially considering these cards were not designed with high-end cooling solutions. As a result, they should be priced lower than more advanced models. A total of ten specific models have seen their prices modified ahead of new shipments. Notably, PowerColor’s 9070 XT Reaper and XFX’s 9070 XT Swift now list at $700 and $730, respectively.
Major retailers like Best Buy remain unchanged, listing their available cards at the original MSRP prices. However, some retailers in the UK such as OCUK have raised their prices by £80-£130. This suggests that AMD’s partners are taking advantage of the high demand for these graphics cards.
It is unclear when new shipments will arrive, but AMD previously stated that it expects cards to be available at $549-$599. The company did not specify which retailers would offer cards at those prices or how many partners would need to sell them at the discounted price before increasing their prices again.
