AMD has unveiled the Ryzen 9 9850HX, a high-end notebook processor designed for fast and expensive gaming laptops. The chip boasts 12 cores with hyperthreading, allowing it to process up to 24 threads simultaneously. This enables excellent performance for demanding applications.
Clocked at up to 5.2 GHz using the new Zen 5 architecture, the Ryzen 9 9850HX is expected to deliver superior performance compared to its predecessors. Its TDP ranges from 45-75 watts, making it suitable for large and heavy gaming notebooks.
Manufactured in the modern 4nm FinFET process at TSMC, the SoC should have excellent energy efficiency. The chip also features a 64-bit architecture, AMD Radeon 610M graphics, and support for up to 12 threads.
The Ryzen 9 9850HX was announced on January 6, 2025, at CES, marking the latest addition to AMD’s Fire Range-HX series.
