AMD Unveils Next-Gen Radeon RX 9070 Series with RDNA 4 Architecture

AMD has officially unveiled its next-generation Radeon RX 9070 series, which boasts a new RDNA 4 graphics architecture designed to cater to an AI-driven future. The 9000-series lineup is built from the ground up for improved ray tracing performance and incorporates second-gen AI accelerators.

The Radeon RX 9070 XT is expected to deliver 51% more performance than its predecessor, the Radeon 6900 XT, with a performance gap comparable to Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 4080. The more affordable Radeon RX 9070 offers significant speed boosts over previous models.

AMD’s FSR 4 technology provides large performance boosts and image quality that can match or surpass native visuals in select titles. The feature will be available on a wide range of games, with support for over 400 games initially and expected to grow to 75+ by the end of the year.

The RDNA 4 architecture also enables AMD’s FSR 4 technology, as well as its driver-based frame generation technology, AMD Fluid Motion Frames. The latter offers improved image quality with reduced ghosting and better temporal tracking.

With the launch set for March 6, AMD is poised to compete directly with Nvidia in the next-gen GPU market. To succeed, it must balance performance and value, addressing concerns about the RTX 50-series’ high prices and lackluster performance gains.
