AMD Unveils Ryzen 5 5500X3D: Affordable Gaming Option at 3GHz

AMD has silently launched its latest addition to the AM4 processor family, the Ryzen 5 5500X3D. This new processor is based on the existing Zen 3 architecture but boasts a slightly different configuration.

The Ryzen 5 5500X3D features a 6-core and 12-thread setup with a base clock speed of 3GHz and up to 4GHz in boost mode. In comparison, its predecessor, the Ryzen 5 5600X3D, has a higher base clock speed of 3.3GHz.

However, the new processor makes up for the reduced clock speeds with an increased L3 cache size of 96MB, similar to other X3D processors in the 5000 series. This should provide better performance in gaming workloads, despite a slight increase in power consumption at 105W compared to its non-X3D counterpart, the Ryzen 5500.

The Ryzen 5 5500X3D is poised to be an excellent budget option for gaming builds, particularly in Latin America where it is currently available. With an expected price tag of around $150, this new processor should appeal to those looking to upgrade their gaming rigs on a limited budget.
