AMD Unveils Ryzen 9 9950X3D with 16-Core Zen 5 Processor

AMD has announced the Ryzen 9 9950X3D, a new 16-core Zen 5 processor with 3D V-Cache technology. The CPU claims an average performance uplift of 8% compared to the Ryzen 9 7950X3D and is 20% faster than Intel’s Core Ultra 9 285K.

The Ryzen 9 9950X3D features a peak boost frequency of 5.7GHz, with a total cache amount of 144MB. Its TDP is set at 170W. AMD also announced the Ryzen 9 9900X3D, a 12-core processor with 24 threads, a peak boost frequency of 5.5GHz, and a total cache amount of 140MB.

Specifications suggest that the Ryzen 9 9950X3D’s performance will be similar to its non-3D V-Cache sibling, the Ryzen 9 9950X, outside of games. However, the effectiveness of the 3D V-Cache depends on how well Windows and Ryzen processors work together in Core Parking.

The new CPUs are expected to offer great content performance and fast gaming performance, thanks to their higher frequencies. Pricing for the Ryzen 9 9900X3D is estimated at around $700, while the Ryzen 9 9950X3D may retail for around $800. The new processors will be available in March 2025.
