A man, identified as Raymond Boodarian, 22, was arrested Tuesday for the murder of American Idol executive Robin Kaye, 70, and her husband, Thomas Deluca, 70. The couple was found dead in their Encino home on Monday morning.
Kaye worked as a music supervisor on the show “American Idol” since 2009. The LAPD said they are still investigating the incident but do not believe it is related to any other surrounding residences.
Police discovered that Boodarian had gained access to the property through an unlocked door and confronted Kaye and Deluca, leading to a shooting. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene. The suspect then fled on foot.
The LAPD received several suspicious calls in the area over the past few weeks, including a call from a neighbor reporting a suspicious person near the couple’s home. The police reviewed surveillance footage and used facial recognition software to identify Boodarian, who was arrested without bail.
Police officials say they do not believe the incident was part of a larger burglary ring or random act of violence targeting specific residents in the area. They are still reviewing evidence and have asked anyone with additional information to come forward.
