American journalist Alec Luhn has been found alive after a five-day hike in Norway’s Folgefonna National Park. He was discovered near the park by helicopter crew on Wednesday morning and is currently receiving medical treatment, according to the Norwegian Red Cross.
Luhn’s wife, Veronika Silchenko, expressed her relief and gratitude to those who helped find him, saying “we are very happy” and thanking everyone in Norway for their efforts. The journalist suffered injuries to his legs during the ordeal but was conscious and relieved when found.
The search operation, which began on Monday, resumed on Wednesday morning with a large team of volunteers, including specialized climbing teams and drones. Luhn, 38, is a climate journalist from Wisconsin who works for outlets such as National Geographic and The New York Times.
