American Taylor Fritz Stuns Khachanov at Wimbledon

American tennis player Taylor Fritz has made history by becoming the first male American to reach the semifinals at Wimbledon since 2018. Fritz defeated Russian player Karen Khachanov in four sets, winning 6-3, 6-4, 1-6, 7-6 (4). The 27-year-old dominated the first two sets, taking 40 of his 47 service points and never facing a break.

However, the match flipped dramatically in the third set, with Khachanov winning eight of the next nine games. Fritz admitted to being caught off guard by the sudden turn of events. Despite feeling in control during the initial two sets, he began making mistakes and struggled to regain his footing.

Fritz rallied back in the fourth set, falling behind 2-0 but managing to win the set in a tiebreaker. He expressed relief and happiness at making it through the match, saying it feels “great” to get to the semifinals after struggling in major quarterfinals before. Fritz will face either two-time defending champion Carlos Alcaraz or unseeded Cam Norrie in the final on Friday.
