Among Us 3D is a new version of the popular social deduction game that allows players to play without a virtual reality (VR) headset. The game will have crossplay with the existing VR version, enabling players to join games together seamlessly. A demo for Among Us 3D is set to launch on Monday as part of Steam Next Fest, a virtual event where developers showcase their demos.
Among Us 3D is essentially the same as the VR version but adapts it for non-VR play without VR-style controls and adds a user interface (HUD). The game’s developer, Innersloth, announced that Among Us 3D will be available “soon” on Steam. A new currency called Stardust will also be introduced in a few months to expand customization options.
The game’s compatibility with the original 2D version is limited, but crossplay between Among Us 3D and the VR version will allow players of either game to join games together. The existing VR version will remain available on Steam as “Among Us 3D,” signifying its compatibility with the new non-VR version.
A live steam page for Among Us 3D is now available, offering more information about the game’s development and release date.
