Among Us VR is getting a major makeover as Schell Games and Innersloth announce the rebranding of “Among Us VR” to “Among Us 3D”. The new adaptation will support flatscreen play on Steam, while retaining the original game’s first-person perspective. Cross-platform multiplayer between PC and VR players will also be supported.
The update comes two years after the initial launch, and introduces a new in-game currency called Stardust, which aims to expand customization options and support future expansions. Additional plans include new modes, tasks, collaborations, and wardrobe updates.
While the original title continues to evolve with four new roles, a matchmaking system overhaul, and security updates, the flatscreen version will only be available on PC. A Steam Next Fest demo is set to launch on February 23, allowing players to experience the game before its official release.
A roadmap for further details has been shared by Innersloth, promising animated TV series news “soon”, as well as limited-time events and collaborations.
