Amtrak Delays Due to Downed Wires in NYC-Philly Route

Amtrak service has resumed with delays between New York Penn Station and Philadelphia after a downed overhead wire incident. Two of the four tracks along the route have been returned to service, but trains are moving at reduced speeds.

The delay is expected to continue along the Northeast Corridor, affecting trains from Washington Union Station to Boston South Station. Passengers can expect delays of 30 minutes to 60 minutes on affected trains.

Amtrak will accommodate customers with reservations on affected trains by rebooking them on similar departure times or another day. The railroad will also waive additional charges for changes made during the modified schedule.

The incident occurred on one of the busiest travel days before the Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa holidays, causing further disruptions to travelers.
