Amtrak is set to launch its new NextGen Acela on August 28, updating rides between Washington D.C., New York, and Boston. The new trains boast a range of improvements, including a “tilt system” that promises a smoother and quieter ride, even at speeds of up to 160 miles per hour.
Inside the new trains, passengers can expect wide, ergonomic seats with USB power outlets and larger windows to maximize natural light. The interior design also prioritizes comfort, allowing for more relaxed journeys.
One notable upgrade is the introduction of Cafe Acela, which will offer a wider range of food and beverage options, including grab-and-go self-service checkout. Additionally, the new trains are 10 miles per hour faster than existing fleet, with plans to increase seating capacity by 27% per departure.
