Amazon MGM Studios has signed Amy Pascal, producer behind the Spider-Man and Venom franchises, to a multi-year first-look film deal. Under the pact, Amazon MGM will have a first look at narrative features produced by Pascal and her partner Rachel O’Connor.
Pascal’s involvement comes as Amazon MGM looks to revive the James Bond franchise. The studio is in talks with 007 gatekeepers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson for a billion-dollar buyout of their creative controls. With Pascal on board, Amazon MGM has high hopes for Project Hail Mary, an adaptation of Andy Weir’s novel starring Ryan Gosling.
Pascal has also produced the Luca Guadagnino-directed film Challengers, which starred Zendaya, and is set to work on Spider-Man: Brand New Day with director Destin Daniel Cretton. Amazon MGM Studios’ Head of Film Courtenay Valenti praised Pascal, calling her “one of the best producers working today” due to her “unparalleled eye for identifying creative talent.”
Pascal has a long history of supporting filmmakers and is known for her passion for storytelling. She will be working closely with Valenti and other executives at Amazon MGM Studios on upcoming projects.
