The popular HBO series “And Just Like That…” is coming to an end after its expanded 12-episode third season. Showrunner Michael Patrick King notified the cast that this would be the final two-part finale, according to sources.
In a statement, King said, “And just like that… the ongoing storytelling of the Sex and the City universe is coming to an end.” He added that he decided to wrap up the series with a finale after realizing it might be a great place to stop. The show’s creators also thanked fans for allowing the characters into their homes and hearts over the years.
The series, which premiered in December 2021, is a sequel to the iconic HBO series “Sex and the City” and follows Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon), and Charlotte York (Kristin Davis) as they navigate midlife romantic adventures in New York City. Despite strong ratings initially, viewership has declined over time.
The decision to end the series is believed to be creative, with storytelling no longer feeling urgent. The show’s cast includes Sarah Jessica Parker, Casey Bloys, Sarah Aubrey, and others.
Fans are expressing their sadness over the series’ conclusion, hoping it will get picked up again in the future. Some have suggested a new spin-off focusing on the younger generation of characters.
