Android 16 Beta 1 Milestone Release on January 2025

Google has announced its first public beta build of Android 16, with a scheduled release date in January 2025. The upcoming update includes several minor fixes, including one that resolves an issue causing devices to restart when making phone calls.

The latest Android 15 QPR2 Beta 3 version, which includes the January 2025 security patches, has been released for 2021’s Pixel 6 series and other Google phones, tablets, and foldables. The update addresses several issues, including device restarts during phone calls, app resume issues, and language picker menu problems.

According to Android expert Mishaal Rahman, this is the final major-version beta build for Android 15 QPR2. However, there’s a possibility of a 0.x hotfix release if a critical bug is found in the current update. The new version has already begun rolling out, and users can check for updates through the Android Beta Program.

Key features and improvements include:

– Fixed issues with device restarts during phone calls
– Resolved app resume issues and language picker menu problems
– Improved Linux kernel on Tensor-powered phones and tablets

Users can enroll in the Android Beta Program to access the update.
