Android 16 Brings Long-Overdue Flashlight Control to Pixels

Google has finally brought a highly requested feature to its Pixel phones with the latest Android 16 QPR1 Beta 2 update. A control for adjusting flashlight intensity is now available, which should arrive on Pixels soon.

This long-overdue feature was already part of the Android base level since 2022 but wasn’t implemented in a user-friendly way until now. Android users can adjust their flashlight’s brightness using the Magnifier app, but having this option built into the settings has been pending for a while.

Thanks to some sleuthing by Telegram tipster Nail Sadykov, we’ve seen screenshots of the new feature in action. While it may not be perfect, the implementation is likely to follow standard guidelines used by other Android manufacturers like Samsung and OnePlus.

As Pixels currently default to 50% brightness on their flashlights, this update should bring a much-needed boost to those seeking brighter light. With Android 16 QPR1 Beta 2 now live, fingers are crossed that we’ll see this feature arrive in the final release soon.
