Anduril Industries, a US defense contractor, is planning to build a massive advanced manufacturing facility in central Ohio. The 5 million-square-foot facility, dubbed “Arsenal 1,” will create approximately 4,000 jobs and boost the state’s high-tech sector.
The company plans to break ground on the site near Rickenbacker International Airport once state and local approvals are secured. Production of military drones and autonomous air vehicles is expected to begin in July 2026.
Ohio Governor Mike DeWine described the deal as “the largest single job creation and payroll project that Ohio has announced.” He highlighted the state’s strong aerospace workforce, which includes a network of job training centers, colleges, and universities.
This development adds to Ohio’s growing reputation as a hub for advanced manufacturing and technology. The state is also home to companies like Intel, Honda, and LG Energy Solution, which are investing billions of dollars in new facilities and projects.
The Anduril project will pursue funding from the Ohio Department of Development and the All Ohio Future Fund, with JobsOhio providing a sizeable grant and talent acquisition services.
