Anker Recalls 5 Power Banks Due to Fire Risks

Anker has issued its second product recall this month, warning customers that five additional power bank models should be stopped being used “immediately” due to the risk of overheating, melting, smoke, or fire. Certain models from MagGo and Zolo series need to be disposed of immediately.

The company announced a voluntary global recall of several Anker power bank models after identifying potential issues with lithium-ion batteries supplied by one supplier. Affected products include:

* Anker Power Bank (model A1257 and A1647)
* Anker MagGo Power Bank (model A1652)
* Anker Zolo Power Bank (model A1681 and A1689)

US customers can claim a free replacement power bank or a gift card by submitting a recall claim form on Anker’s website with their verified product serial number or proof of purchase. However, no specific timeline has been announced for these models.

To ensure safety, Anker advises disposing of affected power banks at designated facilities that accept lithium-ion batteries. The US Consumer Product Safety Commission has received 19 reports of fires and explosions related to a similar recall earlier this month, but it’s unclear if similar reports have been made regarding the other recalled power banks.

Anker says global regulatory authorities have been formally notified to ensure compliance with local guidelines.
