Anker is recalling nearly 80,000 Soundcore and PowerConf Bluetooth speakers in the US and Canada due to overheating lithium battery issues. The affected speakers were sold from March to October 2023 on Amazon at prices as low as $28.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission has received 33 reports of incidents involving the lithium-ion batteries overheating, some resulting in fires and burns. Anker’s Soundcore A3102 and PowerConf A3302 Bluetooth speakers are the specific models under recall due to a potential fire hazard.
If you own one of these speakers, go to Anker’s website and enter your serial number to check if it’s part of the recall. Anker recommends contacting their customer service for instructions on how to get a full refund and proper disposal of the faulty devices. Defective lithium-ion batteries should be recycled; retailers like Staples or Home Depot will recycle them for free. Do not dispose of them in trash.
