Paramount+ has announced the latest addition to its Yellowstone universe with the addition of BAFTA and Golden Globe winner Annette Bening. She will star in the Beth and Rip spinoff series, titled The Dutton Ranch, alongside Kelly Reilly, Cole Hauser, and Finn Little.
Bening will play Beulah Jackson, the powerful and cunning head of a major ranch in Texas. The show is set to remain on the same present-day timeline as Yellowstone and shares the most DNA with the mothership of any show in the universe to date.
The Dutton Ranch follows Beth and Rip Wheeler as they navigate tough times and stiff competition to survive on their 7,000-acre land. They will also be raising their adopted son Carter, played by Finn Little. The show is executive produced by Taylor Sheridan, Kevin Costner, and other key figures from the Yellowstone universe.
Bening has a long list of notable credits under her belt, including Oscar nominations for films like American Beauty and Being Julia, as well as Tony nominations for her stage work. She will next appear in the Apple TV+ limited series Lucky and the big-screen film The Bride.
With Bening joining the cast, fans are eagerly anticipating the latest installment in the Yellowstone universe. While some may question the dynamics between Beth and Rip, who have both been shown to be morally complex characters in the original series, it will be interesting to see how their story unfolds on screen.
