Annie’s Parlour Closes After 50 Years of Serving U of M Students

A beloved burger-and-malt spot in Dinkytown, Annie’s Parlour, has closed its doors after 50 years of serving University of Minnesota students. The family-owned business, a staple of the Minneapolis restaurant scene since 1974, cited financial struggles as the reason for its closure.

Annie’s Parlour had previously taken a four-year hiatus from 2020 to 2024 due to the pandemic and underwent renovations under new leadership by Rimarcik’s sons, Tony and Tom. The restaurant maintained its original spirit and recipes, serving thick patties, gooey cheese, squishy buns, hand-cut fries, and signature malts.

The family expressed gratitude for the support of the UofM community over the decades. “We are grateful for 50 years of business and support from the UofM community,” said Tony Rimarcik in a statement. The restaurant’s legacy lives on through Convention Grill, where many staff members have transitioned to new roles. Gift cards can still be redeemed at Convention Grill, ensuring a smooth closure for loyal customers.
