Anthropic CEO Predicts Human-Level AI by 2026 or 2027

Artificial intelligence (AI) experts predict that human-level AI may arrive as soon as 2026, according to Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei. In a recent interview with podcaster Lex Fridman, Amodei compared the rapid advancements in artificial general intelligence (AGI) to different levels of education, stating that the current progress is comparable to reaching PhD level.

Amodei expressed concerns about the potential implications of human-level AI, highlighting that powerful technologies can have both positive and negative effects. He emphasized the importance of “great power coming with great responsibility.” Anthropic’s flagship product, Claude, a large language model chatbot, rivals ChatGPT in capabilities.

While Amodei’s prediction suggests a rapid progress, he also acknowledged potential challenges such as data scarcity, cluster scaling limitations, and geopolitical conflicts impacting microchip production. Despite these concerns, if current advancement rates continue, human-level AI may be achieved within the next few years.
