Anthropic is releasing two major updates today: a new Research tool and integration with Google Workspace. The company’s AI assistant, Claude, can now seamlessly connect with Gmail, Google Calendar, and Documents, making it a frontline workplace assistant.
With Claude, users no longer need to manually search for information across emails, calendar invites, and documents. Instead, the AI assistant will gather meeting notes from last week, identify action items from follow-up email threads, and search relevant documents for additional context.
Claude’s new Research feature is designed to transform how it finds and reasons over information. Unlike traditional AI search capabilities that execute a single query, Claude now operates “agentically” – a user queries the chatbot, and it conducts multiple searches that build on each other. The results come with citations, allowing users to verify the information themselves.
Anthropic aims for a response time of one to five minutes per query for its new Research feature. CEO Scott White states that the goal is to enable users to work directly with Claude without breaking their workflow.
