Anti-DOGE Protests Hit US and Europe Targeting Tesla and Elon Musk’s Bottom Line

Demonstrators gathered outside Tesla stores across the US on Saturday to protest CEO Elon Musk and his push to slash government spending, which has been endorsed by President Donald Trump. The protests are part of a growing backlash in North America and Europe against Musk’s role in Washington.

Critics of Trump and Musk aim to discourage purchases of Tesla, the world’s most valuable electric car company, and boycott its stock. They believe that by showing up at showrooms and telling others to sell their Teslas, they can impose economic damage on the company.

Musk is taking direction from Trump to reduce federal spending and workforce, citing a mandate to restructure the US government. However, critics argue that his actions defy Congress’s power to control the budget and could enrich himself through other ventures.

White House spokesperson Harrison Fields said protests will not deter President Trump and Musk from implementing their plans. Tesla did not respond to an emailed request for comment.

The protests are part of a growing movement against Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency, which has already made significant changes, including canceling contracts and shutting down sections of the government. Federal prosecutors have charged individuals in connection with vandalism against Tesla dealerships, which include spray-painted swastikas and Molotov cocktails.

Despite falling share prices since Trump took office, Tesla remains higher than it was a year ago. Musk’s net worth is estimated at $359 billion.
