NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown faces attempted murder charges with a firearm after a shooting incident at a celebrity boxing event in Miami last month. A warrant reviewed by media outlets shows that witnesses identified Brown as the shooter, and two shell casings were found at the scene.
Brown was detained by police but released after a few hours, citing he was jumped by multiple individuals who tried to steal his jewelry. However, another man alleged Brown began running towards him with a firearm and shot him twice.
The Miami Police Department declined to comment on the arrest warrant, which instructs Brown to post a $10,000 bond and remain on house arrest until trial. This is not Brown’s first incident involving violence; he has faced on- and off-field controversies since his abrupt NFL career ended. In 2020, he pleaded no contest to a felony burglary charge and served probation instead of jail time.
Brown was once considered for the Pro Football Hall of Fame but walked off the field during a game in 2021, effectively ending his NFL career. He has played for several teams, including the Pittsburgh Steelers, Oakland Raiders, New England Patriots, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, before ultimately retiring from the sport.
