AP Announces All-Time All-America Football Team

The Associated Press (AP) has named its all-time All-America football team, comprising of 25 legendary players who excelled in college football. The list includes former quarterback Tim Tebow and cornerback Deion Sanders from Florida State University, along with Ohio State’s Orlando Pace and Pittsburgh’s Bill Fralic on the offensive line.

The AP panel of 12 sportswriters considered factors such as Heisman Trophy winners, College Football Hall of Famers, and players eligible for induction in 2026. The team excludes professional careers and considers all-purpose players from various positions.

The first-team selections include Barry Sanders, Herschel Walker, Randy Moss, Larry Fitzgerald, and Johnny Rodgers on offense. On defense, the list features Hugh Green, Ndamukong Suh, Bronko Nagurski, Dick Butkus, Derrick Thomas, Chris Spielman, Charles Woodson, Deion Sanders, Ronnie Lott, Ed Reed, and Tory Taylor.

Notable omissions include Anthony Munoz and Ray Guy due to their eligibility criteria. The Big Ten conference led all conferences with seven selections, followed by the SEC. The AP’s all-time team honors 100 years of its prestigious honor for top players in college football.
