Denver Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain II has won the AP NFL defensive player of the year award with 26 first-place votes. He finished second in the voting behind only Trey Hendrickson, who received 11 first-place votes. Myles Garrett from the Cleveland Browns also secured five first-place votes.
Other players to receive first-place votes include Patrick Surtain II’s fellow Broncos teammate Kerby Joseph, T.J. Watt, and several other top defensive players. The AP NFL voting panel comprised 31 media members who cast their ballots to determine this year’s winner.
