Appeals to Pause College Athlete Pay Delay Settlement for Women’s Sports

A group of college athletes has filed an appeal with the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, claiming the NCAA’s landmark antitrust settlement violates Title IX law and will pause payments to current athletes starting July 1. The $2.8 billion settlement is expected to be delayed while the appeal works its way through the system. The majority of the damages are expected to go to football and men’s basketball players, with critics arguing that this will cause irreparable harm to women’s sports.
