Apple has dropped its planned hardware subscription service that would have allowed customers to upgrade their iPhones every year. The idea was initially reported in 2022, but was delayed due to software bugs and regulatory concerns.
The move comes after Apple shut down its Apple Pay Later feature just months ago. Despite the cancellation of this plan, Apple still offers installment options for iPhone purchases. These include the iPhone Upgrade Program, which allows customers to pay off their loan over 24 months. They can also upgrade to a new phone after paying for 12 months if they have an Apple Card.
Note: Apple Card Monthly Installments allow customers to pay for Apple products, including iPhones and other items, over time with interest-free payments.
