Apple, Add Rainfall Forecast to Siri’s Weather Reports

Apple needs to recognize that there are places other than California when it comes to using Siri for weather reports. While the standard response is fine for Cupertino, it lacks a crucial piece of information for locations like London.

The author, a big fan of voice interactions with Apple devices, uses HomePods in every room of their house to control smart home devices and ask for weather forecasts to decide what to wear. However, Siri’s default responses often omit the rainfall forecast.

For example, when asked about the weather forecast, Siri responds with temperatures only. The author has to ask a follow-up question to get information on whether it will rain that day. This is particularly frustrating in London, where rainfall can vary greatly depending on the location.

The problem with Siri’s current response highlights Apple’s tendency to assume US weather conditions as standard for all locations. Thankfully, this was fixed by Apple after the author reported bugs related to displaying specific boroughs of New York instead of London.

Now, the author is asking Apple to add rainfall forecasts to Siri’s weather reports, so users can determine if they need to carry an umbrella or wear a raincoat. This simple feature would improve the accuracy and usefulness of Siri’s responses for people in areas with frequent rainfall like London and Seattle.
