In a rare move, Apple has published a statement listing the affected apps after blocking them amid the TikTok shutdown in the US. The iPhone maker typically doesn’t release information when it blocks apps. The list includes TikTok, CapCut, Lemon8, Marvel Snap, and several other ByteDance apps.
The blockage is due to a law passed last year that forces ByteDance to sell the short video app or face a ban. A Supreme Court ruling upheld this law, leading Apple and Google to block the app for US users. The company claims it’s following the law by removing the apps from the App Store.
US users with non-US region settings will also be unable to update their TikTok apps or purchase in-app items. TikTok stated that President Trump has indicated he’ll work with them on a solution once he takes office, promising updates for users.
