Apple CEO Tim Cook is donating $1 million to President-elect Donald Trump’s inaugural committee, making him one of several tech executives to do so. The donation comes as Cook believes the inauguration is a great American tradition and wants to support unity.
Cook’s decision follows other tech companies’ moves to donate to Trump’s inauguration. Amazon, Meta, and OpenAI are each giving $1 million. Cook previously met with Trump at his Mar-a-Lago compound in December over dinner.
The donation is part of a larger trend among CEOs who have congratulated Trump on his election victory. Other companies donating include Toyota, Ford, GM, Goldman Sachs, Bank of America, and cryptocurrency exchanges Kraken and Coinbase.
In exchange for the donation, donors will receive high-level access to the president-elect and his inner circle at Trump’s 2025 inauguration, including exclusive tickets to events from January 17-20.
