Apple Develops AI-Powered Health Coach App

Apple is working on a new artificial intelligence (AI) powered health coach app as part of its “Project Mulberry” initiative. This project aims to provide personalized health advice and recommendations based on user data collected from devices.

The app, which is expected to be released with the iOS 19.4 operating system update in spring or summer 2025, will use AI to analyze user data and offer tailored suggestions for improving their health. Apple is also training an AI agent using data from doctors on staff and recruiting external experts to create video explainers about different health conditions.

The revamped Health app will focus on food tracking, a feature that Apple has been slow to adopt. This move puts the company head-to-head with existing players like MyFitnessPal and Noom.

Apple’s efforts in the health space have faced challenges in the past, including a patent dispute with medical technology firm Masimo. However, this new initiative aims to bring significant improvements to its services.

Meanwhile, investments in artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare are yielding returns, according to a report by PYMNTS Intelligence. The report found that 9 out of 10 executives believe GenAI will lead to positive returns on investment and plan to increase spending on the technology.

In other news, private equity outfit Blackstone is reportedly considering investing in TikTok’s American operations, aiming to spin off the platform into a separate entity with reduced Chinese ownership. The future of TikTok remains uncertain due to ongoing regulatory issues.
