Apple Fined for False Advertising Over Siri Upgrades

Apple has been fined over false advertising claims related to its revamped Siri voice assistant. The company’s iPhone 16 lineup was advertised to come with upgraded features, but the upgrade didn’t arrive as promised. As a result, a federal lawsuit was filed against Apple, alleging “false advertising” and “unfair competition”. The lawsuit is seeking class-action status for consumers who purchased newer iPhones that were compatible with the delayed feature.

Apple’s advertisements on various platforms created a clear expectation among consumers that the upgraded Siri features would be available upon iPhone 16 release. However, the feature was pushed back to 2026. This delay may have misled potential buyers, especially after the ad was left online for months. Apple has also faced criticism over its AI features, including incompatibility issues with the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus.

The California-based firm behind the lawsuit, Clarkson Law Firm, has experience taking on tech giants like Google and OpenAI. The outcome of this case is yet to be determined and will be updated as necessary.
