Apple Fixing Voice-to-Text Glitch That Replaced “Racist” with “Trump”

Apple has acknowledged a technical bug that caused its voice-to-text system to mistakenly replace the word “racist” with “Trump.” The issue was reported by iPhone users who said the Dictation feature occasionally typed in “Trump” before correcting to the original word. Apple says it is rolling out a fix for the speech recognition model behind the dictation feature.

The company admitted that its system sometimes shows an incorrect word due to phonetic overlap, which corrected quickly to the user’s intended word. The issue occurred after Apple announced a $500 billion investment in US facilities, projects, and infrastructure, which President Donald Trump claimed as a sign of success for his tariff policies.

Trump also criticized Apple on Tuesday, saying the company should get rid of its diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives after shareholders voted down a proposal to end them at the annual meeting. Apple’s board urged shareholders to reject the proposal, citing compliance with relevant laws and aiming to create a culture of belonging.
