Apple’s WWDC keynote focused on software updates rather than emphasizing its ambitious AI projects. However, the company still made some notable announcements related to Artificial Intelligence.
Visual Intelligence allows users to gather information about their surroundings by analyzing images with Google Search, ChatGPT, and similar apps. Users can access this feature in the Control Center or customize the Action button. Visual Intelligence will be available with iOS 26 later this year.
Apple also integrated ChatGPT into Image Playground, enabling image generation in new styles. The AI-powered workout coach provides encouragement during exercise, delivering motivational talks and summarizing workouts.
The company introduced a live translation feature for Messages, FaceTime, and phone calls, automatically translating text or spoken words into the user’s preferred language. Two new AI-powered features for phone calls were also announced: call screening, which answers unknown calls in the background, and hold assist, which detects hold music when waiting for a call center agent.
Other updates include poll suggestions in Messages, AI-powered shortcuts in Shortcuts, contextually aware Spotlight, Foundation Models for developers, and improved Siri with new features expected next year.
