Apple Introduces Face ID Trust for New Computers with iOS 18.2

Apple has made it easier to trust a new computer on its devices, including iPhones and iPads, with the latest iOS 18.2 update. Users can now quickly set up their device with Face ID when connecting to an unknown computer, previously requiring the passcode entry.

This change is part of a broader effort to enhance security and simplify setup processes for Apple users. The “Trust This Computer” prompt was introduced in 2013 as a way to prevent hackers from accessing device data via USB without authorization.

In addition to Face ID trust, iOS 18.2 introduces several other features related to Apple Intelligence, including improved Notes app capabilities, Safari Live Activity for file downloads, and new Find My options for users to locate lost items. The update also expands Camera Control on iPhone 16 models with focus and exposure lock.

A beta version of iOS 18.2 is currently available exclusively for developers, and it’s expected to be released to the public in December. Users can track upcoming updates and hands-on coverage at 9to5Mac throughout the week.
