Apple iOS 19 Rumor: Which iPhones Will Support the Update?

Apple is expected to announce iOS 19 at WWDC25 in about two months, but a new rumor suggests that the update will drop support for three older iPhone models: iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max. These phones were released in September 2018.

The rumor comes from an anonymous source on X who has consistently provided accurate information about Apple’s software updates in the past. If this rumor is correct, iOS 19 will only be compatible with newer iPhones, including models from the iPhone 13 series and beyond.

On the other hand, iPadOS 19 is rumored to drop support for the older iPad (7th generation), which was released in September 2019. However, another source suggests that all iPhone models compatible with iOS 18 will also be able to run iOS 19, contradicting this rumor.

Even if some older iPhones are no longer supported by iOS 19, they will still receive software updates from Apple. In fact, just yesterday, Apple released a security update for the iPhone 8 and iPhone X.

It’s worth noting that these rumors are subject to change and may not be confirmed until Apple officially announces iOS 19 at WWDC25.
