Analyst Jeff Pu of GF Securities has shared new insights into the upcoming Apple iPhone 17 lineup. The report reveals that all four models will feature a 24-megapixel front camera, a significant upgrade from the current 12 megapixels.
The iPhone 17 Pro models are expected to have a 48-megapixel telephoto sensor and be powered by the A19 Pro chip with 12GB of RAM. The devices will also come equipped with Wi-Fi 7, exclusive to the 16 Pro models, but only the iPhone 17 Air will use Appleās C1 modem.
The analyst believes that the iPhone 17 Air, a rumored ultra-thin iPhone model, won’t be sufficient to boost sales due to its lower specs compared to the Pro models. The device is expected to have a 6.6-inch display and a thickness of 5.5 millimeters, but it will only feature a single 48-megapixel rear camera.
Interestingly, Pu suggests that Apple might backtrack on using the C1 modem in the iPhone 17 Air. Additionally, the analyst has confirmed that Apple will first introduce foldable devices in late 2026, with the foldable iPad/Mac coming in 2027.
The new foldable devices are expected to significantly increase Apple’s average selling price (ASP), and earlier reports have suggested that delays in launching new Apple Intelligence features might discourage users from upgrading their iPhones in 2025. The iPhone 17 is expected to be announced in September, with the device featuring a big camera upgrade and plans for foldable devices.
