Apple Lawsuit Against iOS Engineer Dismissed After Apology

A lawsuit filed by Apple against a former iOS engineer, Andrew Aude, has been dismissed after the engineer issued an apology for leaking confidential information to The Wall Street Journal and The Information. In 2022, Aude sent thousands of messages containing sensitive internal Apple information to journalists, revealing details about Apple’s Journal app, Vision Pro, and other unreleased products.

Aude apologized for his actions, stating that he made a “profound and expensive mistake” by sharing confidential information with journalists. He acknowledged the harm caused to his former colleagues and expressed regret for ruining hundreds of professional relationships built over years.

The lawsuit accused Aude of leaking information about six different Apple policies and products. Following a settlement agreement, the case has been dismissed. The details of the settlement are unknown, but the apology was likely one stipulation.

Aude spent nearly eight years working as an iOS engineer at Apple before leaving the company. His actions have had a significant impact on his career, and he is unlikely to be able to rebuild it.
