Apple has partnered with TuneIn to make its six live music radio stations available outside of the Apple Music app for the first time. Starting today, users can listen to these stations for free on TuneIn’s platform, which includes smart speakers, mobile apps, and the web.
The partnership aims to expand Apple’s reach and promote its subscription service. Until now, listeners had to navigate to the Radio tab in Apple Music to access these stations. With this new collaboration, Apple hopes to attract TuneIn users who will be interested in upgrading to a paid subscription for access to more features and exclusive content.
The six radio stations include Beats 1 (previously known as Apple Music 1), which still features popular hosts like Zane Lowe, as well as Apple Music Hits, Country, Uno, Club, and Chill. However, it’s worth noting that algorithmically-driven stations remain subscriber exclusives.
