Apple Redesigns Magic Mouse to Address User Complaints

Apple is working on a new design for its Magic Mouse successor, aiming to address user complaints about the charging port location and other issues. The redesign was first reported by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in his Power On newsletter.

Gurman revealed that Apple’s design team has created prototypes of the mouse with an eye towards creating something “that better fits the modern era.” However, he didn’t provide specifics on the new design.

The new Magic Mouse is expected to take at least 12 to 18 months to release. Its redesign aims to improve upon the existing Magic Mouse, which was released in 2008 and has received few major updates since then.

As a long-time user of Apple devices, I think there’s room for improvement even with the recent USB-C revision. My wishlist includes adding mechanical controls, addressing ergonomics, and eliminating the need to expose the charging port. A wireless charging option would also be beneficial, like Logitech’s mousepad that doesn’t require manual charging.

With its reputation for innovation, I’m confident Apple can create a better design than its competitors.
