Apple Redesigns Magic Mouse with Charging Port Fix

Apple has taken note of criticism surrounding its Magic Mouse and is working on a redesigned version. The new mouse will address issues such as charging and simultaneous use, and may launch in 2025 or 2026. Apple’s switch to USB-C from Lightning allowed users to share cables with other products, but the position of the port remained unchanged.

According to Bloomberg analyst Mark Gurman, Apple aims to create a more ergonomic and comfortable mouse while fixing long-standing complaints. The new design is expected to take inspiration from current alternatives like Logitech’s MX Master 3S. With the Magic Mouse not updated since 2009, some speculate that this redesign could bring about a complete overhaul rather than minor tweaks.

The redesigned Magic Mouse may offer improved aesthetics and user experience, but it remains unclear if Apple will increase prices or release it as a ‘Pro’ accessory. Apple has made changes to the mouse in recent years, including switching from AA batteries to rechargeable ones and introducing color options with the 24-inch iMac’s launch in 2021.
