Apple has re-enabled news notification summaries as part of its latest developer betas for iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS 26. The feature was disabled in January’s iOS 18.3 update due to incorrect summaries spreading on social media. Users will now be asked to choose whether to receive notifications from “News & Entertainment” apps, with options to enable or disable this category.
A prominent red disclaimer has been added to ensure that users understand how these summaries may alter the meaning of original headlines. The updated system also includes a “summarized by Apple Intelligence” label to distinguish these notifications from regular ones.
