Apple is reportedly developing new iPad Pro models with an M6 chip and its own 5G modem. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the company plans to release these devices in 2027. This will mark a shift away from using Qualcomm modems currently found on cellular iPads.
The current iPad Pro models were released in May 2024 and are expected to be succeeded by new versions with an M5 chip in October this year. If the trend continues, the next-generation iPads with the M6 chip and Apple-designed 5G modem would likely launch in mid-2027.
Additionally, a new entry-level iPad model is also rumored for release in 2026. Gurman did not provide information on when the MacBook Air models with an M5 chip would be available.
The only major changes rumored for these devices are improvements to their performance and functionality. Apple has been working on its Magic Mouse 3, which is expected to feature a relocated charging port and a more ergonomic design.
Gurman also shared some details about iOS 18.4 and the upcoming release of iOS 19. The new iOS update is expected to include a redesigned user interface with translucent buttons and menus, as well as improved performance.
