Apple Rumored to Release Pro Display XDR and Larger iMac by 2026

Apple’s Pro Display XDR, launched in 2019, may not be as high a priority for the company as previously thought, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. A new version of the display with an updated design is reportedly “less of a priority” due to its premium price tag.

In contrast, rumors suggest that Apple will release a larger iMac by 2026, potentially featuring mini-LED backlighting. This could offer improved brightness and contrast compared to LCD technology. The new iMac’s size has not been confirmed, but earlier reports indicated a possible 32-inch model.

Gurman also mentioned an updated version of the Pro Display XDR with an Apple silicon chip in 2022, but it remains unclear if this plan is still on track. Customers are hoping for additional features such as a camera and speakers on future Pro Displays. Meanwhile, a larger iMac is expected to offer a higher refresh rate than its smaller counterpart.

While there’s no confirmation on the exact release date or design of either product, Gurman’s latest comments suggest that Apple will eventually release a new iMac with improved specs.
