Apple has released revised first betas of upcoming iOS 26.5 and iPadOS 26.5 updates for developers. These new updates come four days after the initial beta release.
Users can download the revised betas from their iPhone or iPad Settings app by going to General > Software Update. The main goal is believed to be fixing bugs that couldn’t wait until a second beta.
Some notable features include:
– A suggested places feature in Maps, recommending locations based on trends and recent searches.
– Preparing ground for ads in the Maps app.
– End-to-end encryption (E2EE) testing for RCS messages between iPhone and Android users. This was previously tested in iOS 26.4 but removed before the update’s release.
The company is also exploring proximity pairing, notification forwarding, and Live Activities for third-party wearables like earbuds and smartwatches in the European Union.
